Forrest Gordon is a Partner with the Firm, focusing his practice on general corporate counsel, M&A, real estate, business formation and start-up consulting.
Forrest was born and raised in Houston and graduated from Memorial High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Government and successfully completed the Texas Business Foundations Program. While an undergrad, Forrest attended a semester abroad at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. After completing his undergraduate education, Forrest earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. While in law school, Forrest held clerkships with Justice Evelyn Keyes in the First Court of Appeals of Texas and with the Texas Attorney General’s Office. After graduating, Forrest was admitted into the Texas State Bar.
Out of law school, Forrest worked for the famed Texas litigator, Tony Buzbee, at the Buzbee Law Firm. From there, Forrest took a position in the business transactional group of BoyarMiller, focusing his practice on mergers and acquisitions, general corporate, and real estate. In the midst of the US shale boom, Forrest took a position as in-house counsel for Trican Well Service, LP, the US subsidiary of the Alberta-based, international pressure pumping and oilfield service company of the same name. As one of only a couple of in-house attorneys for a Division that, at its height, was doing $1B/year in revenue and employing hundreds of employees across the country, Forrest was entrusted with considerable and increasing responsibilities. These responsibilities included negotiating a full range of transactional agreements, resolving pre-litigation disputes, overseeing litigation, establishing strategic initiatives and internal policies and providing employee training on legal topics. Following Trican’s disposition of its US business in 2016, Forrest re-entered private practice with the co-founding of Gordon Lusky LLP.
Forrest frequently works with foreign investors and internationally-based companies with business interests in the United States, including those from Canada, Mexico, India, China and Japan. Examples of the types of clients Forrest serves are oilfield service companies, oil and gas operators, technology companies, manufacturers, custom home-builders, hospitality companies, logistics companies, scrap trading companies, investors and entrepreneurs.
Outside of work, Forrest enjoys spending as much time with his wife and young son as they can stand.
